This particular daffodil is a lovely lime-yellow shade, rather than the deeper yellow one often sees. It's a typically tall cultivar with huge trumpets and puts on a marvellous display in March and April. Truly life-affirming, if rockets out of the ground with great aplomb and heralds spring.

Pale yellows are one of the most difficult colours to portray, without getting muddy browns. Careful mixing of the grisaille underpainting shade is crucial, and not over-painting. Hard to resist, once the paints are out and flowing...
